Why
i can not figure out why i see so many people with rubicons that keep them stock and look like they have never taken it off the pavement. what is the reasoning to spend all the extra money on stuff that will never be used?
1. You're right, many Rubi owners never leave the pavement with them. Lame.
2. There are many Rubis out there where you can clearly tell they've been wheeled hard.
3. There are also Rubis out there that get wheeled hard but are meticulously cleaned and maintained. Especially if someone does a lot of desert wheeling, you might not be able to tell it's been used without looking underneath.
4. Some people do moderate wheeling with a Rubi and don't technically "need" one, but like to have excess capacity in case they get into a tough spot. Nothing wrong with that, and those Rubis likewise will probably not show many signs of abuse.

other thing too are dealers that push the higher dollar rubicons by stating they are rarer and more rugged looking, acting jeeps.. obviously the commission on a 36k rubicon is a lot more than a 26k sport....
ive a friend of a friend who liked my wrangler so much that he had to have one.. never intending to wheel he brought it to my house to show it off..
when I asked why a rubi? "the salesman told me because the rubicon has hard and soft tops and will last longer because it is built tougher...."
he was sold a bill of goods as a sport wouldve been perfect for him.. he just wants the top down / doors off, and thats it..

Why? well... because:
1. I can't "afford" to buy a base model and upgrade it to the same level as the Rubicon, it is my DD, I need this Jeep available 24/7
2. Even if I had the funds, I don't have the time for building it, I rather spend that time with my daughter on the trail.
3. Comes with 7 years bumper to bumper warranty! (in my case anyway)
4. It has everything that I need (and beyond) for my amateur off-roading skills, for me it is just point and go, and have fun! (and if I gut stuck, it's only because I did something really stupid.)
5. I bought my Rubi so I will never (ever) get stuck again in this horrible Canadian winter!!!! I had enough...
6. Do I have to be a hard core off roader to enjoy the benefits of having a Rubicon?
The "Rubicon" trim is perfect for newbies like me, you buy it ones and you enjoy it with the family, you can enjoy the 98% of the trails out there with no modding wish lists,
Now... that's FUN!!!

I was recently (prior to buying mine used) put on disability. So with limited funds & physical ability to upgrade myself I spent a little more for the Rubi. I have succumbed to a bumper/winch combo, but I think I can manage with just those upgrades.
i bought a rubi cause i might get stuck on the speed bumps at the mall. they also come with those nice peices of steal that will help me slide over them without scraching the paint on my body. o yal and when i hammer it on the freeway the bigger axle will not brake. you still have to order dual tops with a rubi by the way.

Everyone has their own reasons. I myself have taken my stock Rubi on what I consider technical trails. I have all the marks on the bottom, rock rails and front bumper to prove it.
Since it is also my daily driver, I try hard to keep it looking as close to new as I can while on the pavement. Plus the word "RUBICON" on the hood looks awesome!
