How does my drive shaft look?
You have a few options for replacement drive shafts Tom Woods and JE Reel. I myself will be going with Tom Woods when I replace the shafts. His design is cleaner in my opinion but requires you to change out the yokes on the transfer case and the differential. JE Reel has an option to use the existing yokes and would be your simplest for installation. I would suggest you visit both manufactures webs site to educate yourself and even call them directly.
Your rear drive shaft's grease seal is failed and without the rubber boot the rear drive shaft will fail completely due to lack of lubrication. I recommend that you do not drive your vehicle. When it fails completely is not going to be pretty. If the shaft takes something out when it goes your warranty claim will probably be denied since your JK is lifted.
Yes, the JK uses a CV joint. This design is like the CV shaft for front wheel drive cars and trucks with independent front suspensions. Aftermarket drive shaft manufactures use a double cardan setup.
mine lasted about 3000 miles from when I got my 4" lift. as soon as it started throwing grease it started making noise. I had new shafts built at Six States Distributers here in Salt Lake city($750.00. installed.) The pinion agle can make things worse. Make sure they are adjusted correctly. The company that did my lift did not adjust that when the installed the lift. Good Luck
If i read correctly, i only NEED adjustable upper arms if i was to do this on a budget correct? I could add lowers later right and not have to change anything but the lengths of the arms right?
