Locking Dana 30?????
I ordered a aussie locker for my dana 30. My axle is sleeved and c-gusset reinforced. I am afraid I am going to start snapping axle shafts. Anybody that has their front dana 30 locked please let me know how your axle shafts are holding up.
Better the shafts than the gears.
But if you're worried about it, toss some alloys in. Or find a 44/60. (if MKJeep doesn't reply, shoot him a message. He has been running a lunchbox'd 30 for a few years I believe).

I've heard some people say to lock the front if you're only going to do one. The logic is that you probably need the additional traction going uphill, and the rear tires will have more weight on them, so it's the front that needs the help.
In most cases you'll see much more difference when you lock the rear (compared to front). When climbing your front end unloads and pushes a great portion of the weight back. The rear axle does a lot more work.

this is a never ending debate, but I put an Aussie locker in my dana 30 front axle, and it is an unbelievable upgrade for the money.
It does knock and provide some steering wheel feed back in slow tigh turns, but I still love it.

There's gotta be some intelligence behind why Sports/X have beefier rear axles...in the debate regarding where the weight is unloaded.
