Front DriveShaft: Now What
Okay, I tore the boot off my Front DriveShaft. Presumably while wheelin with the front axle disconnected. That's what your supposed to do, right? Well it more like disconnected in the front, rear of boot is in place and factory clamp was still hanging on the DS.
I've read there are a couple of options now.
1) Put boot back on. I picked up a couple of 3" and 4" hose clamps that could work. But, it seems like this is going to be a pain.
2) Grease the DS regularly. I have no idea how I should do this. What grease and were, in the joint? I have red and tacky in the grease gun.
3) New DS (not going to happen, now). Any other advantages to a new Front DS?
Looking for some assistance in deciding to put it back on or some guidance in how to actually grease it.

Probably not an issue with your lift height, but disconnect and flex, then crawl underneath and verify the clearance between the driveshaft and the corner of the tranny. The boot isn't a big deal, bashing in the corner or splitting the lip on the pan can be.
Looks like you are auto tranny? So its hitting the auto pan, or the tranny skid, right? Of you can see where it hit you might be able to make some clearance with a grinder on whatever it hits.
What shocks are you running up front?
I would put some grease in there and fasten the boot back up if it were mine, although people have gone over a year like that without doing anything. It would bug me not to button it back up though...

The stock shafts are just too wide. If you want to stop it from happening,
get rid of the lift,
or go to a narrower shaft,
or shift the front axle a few inches to the left.

They might toss a new one on. But guess what? It'll just happen again the next time you go offroad. And the next time. And the next. And...

Or swap to a manual tranny...
