If anyone has COP4x4 on their Facebook did you see the recent post were he stated Don't regear your 2012 jeeps. He stated that the computer monitors diff speed and regearing will put your 2012 JK into limp mode. I'm just passing along the word if you haven't seen it.

Exactly I think it's ridiculous.

 

Probably not enough info yet but...does this mean you can't re-gear until the aftermarket tuners update for the 2012 so you can adjust for the gears OR does it mean you can't regear at all?

 

From the comments on FB a shop had let Cop know that about the JKs and they are putting the stock gears back into that 2012 JK. He just stated not to regear until further notice. The only thing I see is someone is going to be able to corner the market on regear when the figure out what they need to do.

 

I was wondering the same thing. I assume that it will just take a few weeks or months at worst for the aftermarket tuners to prepare new equipment or tuners for the 2012 JKs. I also wonder if 2012 owners can have their gears installed by their installer of choice then towed to a dealer for Starscan system update. Either way, I'm sure 2012 owners will soon have a way to re-gear their rigs.

 

Well that's inevitable i give it a couple weeks till one of the leaders in aftermarket JK stuff produces some sort of info for a 2012 regear.
