Default Steering stabilizer question

Ow long do these last and how do you know when they are shot? My JKU has just over 36k and is a 2008. The steering is a little...loose perhaps. I have never had a SFA which is why I ask. Thanks all.

Your steering being loose probably doesn't have anything to do with the SS. As for how long they last, I can't give you a definitive answer. Easiest way to tell if it's bad is if it's leaking. Or, take it off and see how difficult or easy it is to compress.. If its easy with little resistance, it's probably shot. If its got some resistance and can here the compression, it's still good. Hope this helps....

I have an '07 with 56K miles and just took mine off to put heavy duty one on for my bigger wheels/tires setup. The stock one was still ok, so I doubt yours is bad. I would however check it like what was said above to be sure.

I just replaced the stock SS on my 08 with 25k and I could compress it with VERY minimal effort...
I love my new Fox...after all the Teraflex leaky ones in glad I didn't go that route.

Take the shock off and pull on it. If it comes out smooth and kind of hard to pull then its good. If it goes loose then tight and kind of skips its bad
