Default Poison Spyder Evap Skid

Well my fiancée and future in-laws were nice enough to get me a bunch of jeep stuff for Xmas including the Poison Spyder evap skid, EVO Draglink flip and the Dynomax rock krawler exhaust. Only have time to do the evap skid this weekend and maybe the exhaust. Any last minute advice on installing the skid? The instructions make it look really easy...

Thanks!

Its that easy.
The only tricky part would be the front bolt. but even that isn't that tough

When installing the canister strap over the top of the canister be careful to not over tighten the strap as it may damage the plastic housing.

Get a 16mm Gear Wrench (ratchet wrench) it will make tightening the front bolt easier. It's a great product. And marry her quick!!!

X2 on the ratcheting wrench. If you dont have a 16mm. A 5/8 works just as well. Also use a bucket or a jack and a block of wood to hold the skid up. Thing gets heavy!

I just installed mine the other day. I didn't disconnect anything from the skid. I just did the following:

1) Unbolt evap and remove from factory mount.
2) Start the front two bolts on PSC skid.
3) Put the evap canister on the skid with the strap in place but not bolted down.
4) Slide evap canister forward and install rear bracket bolts.
5) Slide evap canister back and finger tighten front bolts.
6) Install rear mounting bolt.
7) Position evap on skid and install strap (look at the ribs on top).
8) Tighten front two bolts (agreed on above, gear wrench would have been nice).

Note: I didn't have a 16mm wrench and bought a set of Craftsman Ratcheting Open End Wrenches. The design of these does not let them be turned over to get a bite from a different angle when you have reached full travel, and the slot provided in the skid is not big enough to get another bite on the left bolt. Therefore, I spent the better part of an hour getting that one bolt tight. Do yourself a favor and either have a standard combination wrench or a gear wrench at hand and you will be done in less than 30 min.

Be sure to keep the bolts a little loose until all bolts are on, then tighten down. I tightened the bolts down per instruction and had issues with the the holes lining up. Kept everything loose and it worked fine.

This is great advice. Wish I would've see this post before I started the install. I followed the instructions and my rear bracket bolt didn't line up either so had to loosen the 3 small bracket bolts to get the rear frame bolt in. All done now and happy. Talk about a quality piece....
