Default LoD slider install. Drill and tap.

Just purchased the LoD sliders and need to know the correct drill and tap bits needed. I have read that the tap needs to be 7/16in-20 but the drill bit sizes from 13/32 or 29/64 or 25/64. From those that have done it, what is correct?

25/64 and 7/16 - 20 tap.

Do not use the bit in the Kawasaki set! See picture. The bit is wrong and too large.

Lastly, I hate regular drill bits. I'd use something like a step bit or annular. Regular bits won't drill a round hole. Trust me...

Also, if you have a manual trans, you'll need to buy two bolts. And they're not easy to find...

Just installed mine last week. 25/64 drill bit and 7/16 -20 is correct. First drill 1/4 pilot hole and the rest goes pretty easy. There are 7 taps to be made on each side.

I've installed. 4 sets of these. It's not that bad. I tack welded the tap into a socket so I could use it in a ratchet instead of an adjustable wrench.

Great idea! I lost an adjustable wrench that day. Threw it in the woods behind my house. I might have been a little frustrated...

It worked great and I have two of them should I ever install some more. Socket was like a buck or two, cheap fix to save a lot of grief.

You can use a 12 point socket on a tap to turn it. (12 pts are divisible by 4)

Tried that. The socket size was really small and the torque required to tap the frame was too high. Ruined the socket almost immediately.

Just installed mine yesterday, bought the tap and drill bit off amazon. Used a 12 point socket with my 1/4" ratchet for the tap, PB blaster for cutting oil and had no issues. Well almost none, somehow had one of the holes marked wrong and am missing a bolt for the center mount spot on the passenger side. Although just a bit short the supplied bolts seem to thread into the blind nuts that have no existing bolts for us 6m guys. I said blind nuts huh huh huh. Will visit fasten all for the extra bolts.
