Default Axles MUST haves for 36" tires

Looking for every, if any, absolute must haves in order to run 36" bfg MTs on 18" wheels. Non Rubicon axles. I already plan on upgrading gear ratio. Im just looking for axle upgrades, front/rear or both. I do not rock crawl, I rarely offroad anymore, maybe 3 times a year at most on moderate terrain. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Was thinking about Artec Dana 30 trusses and maybe C gussets for the front. Would the rear be okay by iteself?

I would recommend reading the numerous post that have been posted already for the same exact question. You have been here for a few years...

Too much personal opinion involved for any kind of a "Must Have". Keep reading and researching and come to your own opinion.

Still one of my favorite threads on the subject, no lift, stock tires, onroad

Go with what you got. Keep some money put back. When it breaks, replace it with something stronger.

Yeah I was gonna go that route. I would rather spend the extra couple hundred to reinforce it if 36" will be too heavy on the front instrad of breaking something and spending thousands.

It's the same question, with the same answers, whether it is you and 'your setup' or the other thousand people that have asked it. None of us can tell you whether you will or won't bend or break. You are going to get the same opinions. Some are fine running 37's or bigger on d30's, others bend/break running 35's (or even stock tires) while driving onroad and hitting potholes or curbs. Add up the costs and see what makes sense for your usage.

But since you indicate all onroad with minimal offroad, just slap a set of gussets on and go for it. Keep an eye on the balljoints and hubs, and maybe the rear flanges.

There are no must haves Only added insurance against breakage. With each upgrade the odds shift in your favor. That is Not to say you will or will not break with any particular upgrade just that you stand a better chance of not breaking. As was already said run it stock. If you want a little more insurance gusset the front. Want more insurance throw in some chromoly axles need more Go rcv's. Want to bump it up a little more throw a truss on toss on some beefier diff covers upgrade the ball joints. So in closing upgrades equals money dividea by protection only you can decide how much protection you can afford and at the end of the day all that money could still leave you broken at the mall after hitting a curb on accident.
