Hey all, need your advice. My jeep was in my garage while I was on vacation. Hurricane flooded my garage with 18 inches of salt water. Water was up to the middle of the rims. When I got home I washed under the jeep but wondering if I need to worry about the brakes or the axels. Was under water for about 6 hours.
Thanks

If you look at the center section of each axle(not axel unless from another country), you can see the black rubber tubing exiting and going up way above the axle. On the other hand, if the water was about center on your wheels , good chance water has made it's was past the cheap plastic seals, past the bearings, and filled, or partially filled the pumpkin. It's a great opportunity to open them up, do an inspection and learn something. Get a couple of Lube lockers, seal and fill 'em back up . Maybe try Synthetic this time around. Next time you do it, you'll remember how easy it was and be eager to do it yourself.

if you don't want to remove the diff cover, our jeeps have drain plugs in the diffs. This makes it so easy to drain and refill. You could drive it a bit, then drain the diffs into a clean container. Then inspect the drained fluid for water. If no water present, just refill with new fluid. If water is present, may be better to remove the cover. I've drained and refilled my diffs 3 times over the last 78,000 miles. It really is a simple task. Actually more simple than changing the oil.
