Lubelocker diff gasket
So I am thinking of changing my front and rear diff fluids and gaskets. I was gonna go with lubelocker reuseable gaskets and royal purple gear oil. Has anyone done this, is there anything that I should know ahead of time?
They work great for the first few times you have to remove the cover. I had mine on the front after developing a leak after banging the differential on the rock (I guess it broke the RTV seal). Unfortunately, it wore out after a few times of removing the cover during my gear installation. After everything else I spent I didn't want to spend more.
I picked up a Solid diff cover from a forum member with the LL attached. Threw it on and good to go.
They take a hit well with no leaking. Mine did anyway. They flatten out after removing them a few times and then no longer seal well. This is not a knock on the product, because the manufacturer states right out to replace them after you've removed them.
Yep, you can get three or four out of them (don't ask how i know) so it comes out a few dollars more than a tube of RTV. Of course once you through in time and clean up factor then I think you come out a bit ahead.

The regearing is what was the killer. Take it off, set the gears up, put it back on, correct, and repeat. The shop had to do that a few times, because they were trying to correct the noise from the gears -- that's a different discussion though. The poor Lube Locker didn't stand a chance.
I would consider using a less expensive gear oil if you plan on doing water crossings. I put royal purple in my diffs about a month ago. Since then I have done a couple of water crossings and am wandering if water may have gotten into my diffs. I have seen some pictures of milky gear oil and it isn't pretty.
