Rear axle shafts removal
I have the rubicon rear locker D44 and do you need a slide hammer to get the axle shafts out? Got the thing all apart and them darn shafts wont come out. Just got back from auto zone with a slide hammer and tried that. Did move and mm. Am I missing something?
this great write up should help

Did you remove the 4 nuts that hold the axle in the housing?
It came out. Finally gave it a serious smack from the slide hammer after confirming for the 5th time that everything was out. I was a little tentative especially since I've not heard anyone with a JK needing a slide hammer for axles or gear swaps, but finally put some steam on it and out it came right out. I'm in the middle of a regear and the fronts came out smooth as butter.
Slide hammers are cool . . . huh hu hu

right on man. Yeah, they can be a little snug in there...a slide hammer would have REALLY helped me get my fronts out...front passenger side hub bearing assembly was seized into the knuckle with rust...instead I pounded it out with a large screwdriver from the back side...damaged it in the process...they're expensive
mine were really snug. i would blame the rust that i see. when i followed a write up i saw, i saw the person was in cali. theres not much rust there. i used a pry bar to get them out with plenty of pb blaster.
