Well Big Bear was pretty much a disaster. We got into town after 6 without to much trouble and found the place to check into our hotel. When we went to the building where our room was we found the parking lot hadn't been plowed and the snow was a few feet deep. Finally a front end loader showed up and moved the snow around but he built a 10' high wall of snow around the parking lot. We were unable to get to our room so we went back the office and were told "what do want me to do about it". Great customer service! They didn't charge us so we set out looking for something else. Everything else was either booked or closed. There is so much snow up there that it looked like a ghost town. Most of the busineses were closed because the employees couldn't get out of their houses or neighborhoods. We decided around 11:00 to just go home. The drive back down the 18 was OK but the poor folks trying to get up the hill after midnight, yikes. There were several cars and 2wd pick-ups using cables that were sitting in the traffic lanes just spinning their wheels, unable to move. There was a solid line of cars from the twistys almost down to Lucerne Valley.
I feel sorry for those folks because once they waited 3-5 hours to get up the mountain they're going to find their hotels/cabins either closed or inaccessable. Most of the streets that were plowed were only one lane wide so it's going to fun trying to get around. Glad now that we came back home!

Had 5 feet of snow in my driveway yesterday! First time I've seen that in many years....My Rubicon just plowed right in! The Mountain is Beautiful......Wouldn't recommend trying to go up the mountain off road right now but be carefull there are so many knuckleheads on the road getting stuck and worse....
