Exclamation Big Bear Forest Fest 2014: Friday June 13th!

Each year the Inland Empire 4 Wheelrs host Big Bear Forest Fest this year being the 17th and for those of you it's very much like Tierra Del Sol's Desert Safari with hosted trail runs culminating in a huge raffle of some of top notch offroad products! Anyway some have asked why pay to wheel trails we wheel for free and to that I say you are wheeling for free now! This event is to support Land Use and Keep the Trails open so if you don't want to have our trails turned into for pay OHV's (like back East) then you should be interested in helping out in any way you can.

"In a nutshell, our trails are in constant threat of closure. IE4W wants to fight to keep them open. This event allows IE4W to raise funds that are used to donate to land use organizations that help keep our trails open and free. IE4W also use the funds to donate to local charities and the club has created two college scholarships Yesterday someone was overheard saying, "Why should I pay to go to your event and pay to go on public trails?" The answer, "To keep them open silly?" - Inland Empire 4 Wheelrs

Okay stepping off the soap box now. Anyway here's the plan for us:

Gates open in Snow Valley at (Big Bear) at 8AM so we want to try to get there early in order to grab some real estate for us to stay together. This event is pretty big and the spaces fill fast so my suggestion is to try and get a group of us to roll in together so we can ensure spots next to each other. Those showing up later in the day will most likely not be together with us.

**UPDATE**
Forum friend and sponsor Rebel Off Road, a title sponsor for this years Big Bear Forest Fest, wants to show all the JK-Forum members their appreciation for all the support given them. Exclusive to members attending this years BBFF they plan to provide the following:

1. Every member and their guest will receive a Rebel Trail Bandanna
2. Each rig will get their trail swag bag.
3. All registered rigs completing the Saturday run will receive a
Special Survivor Rebel Off Road Gift Certificate for $50!

To be eligible you must sign up below (so they know how much swag to bring) and show up at the hot dog dinner (also provided by Rebel) on Friday evening where the swag will be handed out. Simply find the Rebel Off Road trailer where they will have a section we can all hang out in Friday evening and party with the Rebel crew. Please note that due to the event size we will be on our own for Saturday's raffle but will most likely try and sit together.

Where do we sleep?
Dry camping in the Snow Valley Parking Lot is included with your registration. Come early as the RV parking can get crowded. We have a limited area for tent campers. We plan to try and get spaces close to one another to remain as a group. Also, I'm working with Rebel Offroad to set up an area in their vendor section where we can hang out and sit together for the raffle.

Big Bear has several lodging options. Click the lodging tab below for more information.

**UPDATES**
Looks like we'll want to be there early Friday to ensure we get good camp spots. As some of you know we have a ton going on and won't have JK Thang for this trip but Bill and his son Wyatt will be with us in our RV and we'll be doing trail runs with them in his JK. Long story short we need to get on the road by 6 AM Friday to get there when the gates open by 8 AM. Since we will be bringing our RV it'll be a slow go so if you want to caravan that's cool or we can all meet when we are up there.

RV Caravan: We will be coming by the Park and Ride at Deer Springs road & Hwy 15 by 6:15 AM. Let me know if you want to come along with us by sending me a PM or post up on this thread.

Friday:
Once we're checked in our plan is to get the run Horse thief Flats Friday since the BBFF won't be running it until Saturday. Then we'll come back check out vendors until the evening where we'll be back together for the Rebel hot dog dinner and swag.

Horse Thief Flats ~we'll play the departure time by ear but looking at noonish.~

Requirements:Rated– (Moderate) Minimum 31” tires and a locker recommended. Low ground clearance vehicles are likely to get scraped on the rocks.

Description:As you descend from the majestic views from Baldwin Lake, the trails winds down into territory that was once a place where Gold Rush era cattle rustlers used to call home. After descending into the flat itself there is a challenging climb which might require a spotter or two. Due the elevation changes, the trail can be anywhere from extremely cool to downright hot as you enter the flat. Use extreme caution during the rock crawling sessions as some lines can be more “challenging” than others. Enjoy this scenic and historic trail.

I'm in.
Onyx on Sat and Horse Thief on Sun.
Looks like the Spooky run is completely closed out....Bummer as I was really looking forward to that one.
No worries, I have plenty of rock and trail lights.... I'll probably head out within CB range and do my own thing.
Let me know if anyone else is up for something super mellow but fun on Friday night.

What do you think about getting a cabin for the weekend? I’m talking a big one. No less than 5 bed rooms. We may even be able to get a couple that are next door to each other. I know I don’t want to drive my rig up the mountain with the price of gas.

Hey Rob are you able to make the upcoming Meet and Greet? If so, we can talk more about it there but there could be some of us who end up camping at the ski resort to be closer to the action.

I was going to try to make it. We can discuss the trip then. It does sound fun but if I get out there Friday night and I cannot camp with the group I might be drinking by myself.
