X2

Just razor or cut it off with scissors and snips to cut the metal clamp....it'll be good for a bit , it will eventually wear out and get play...

Not sure where you live (can't tell on my phone) but I have some lying around if you want n get one. They have a little rust, but in good shape. They were off a 2010 and 2012. Also I noticed in the current quadratec catalog that there is a boot replacement kit for (if I recall correctly) around $25.

Edited: Quadratec Part # 52300.1102 Boot Kit, Front Drive Shaft $24.99
(Genuine Mopar Part, so it should also be available from any Jeep dealer)

Exactly! Tore the boot on mine the first time out after I had my lift & tires installed. Wasn't even on a hard trail....maybe a 2.

Call the local 4x4 shops.
I bought a take off for $50 front shaft at ORW when my boot failed.
They generally save a few for these types of situations.

I have both the front and rear drive shafts for a jk. Both are in excellent condition. Both have only been used on the street. PM if interested.

Drive this one about a year or so without replacing the boot. Nothing wrong will happen. Then buy a Foxwood or Coast or JE Reel. That's what I did and I am happy.

Default 3 Plus yrs Without Boot

You should be good for a few years with normal driving and depending on how much you flex when wheeling, you may need to replace sooner. Simply trim the portion of the boot that's making the annoying sound and/or remove it all together.

here's my stint;

rode 1 yr with no boot;
When I went out wheeling for the first couple of times within in the 1st year of owning my jeep, I ripped thru the boot, got the initial grease splatter and continued to wheel until the CV boot ( transfer case side) ripped. Dealer (Don a V) replaced for free and the boot ripped again my first time out a week later.

3 yrs with no boot
I tore off the boot and wheeled with that 2nd drive shaft for over 3yrs until the CV boot ripped.

1 1/2yr with no boot and counting...
I bought another stock replacement from the guys here, and of course, tore that boot quickly but the cv boot hasn't ripped yet, so I'm just counting days until I need to replace again

What size lift do you have? Is the oil pan likely to tear the boot with a 3 inch lift?
