Default Interco Birddog Wheels

The new issue of 4WHEEL&Offroad has a write up on the Interco Birddog wheel. I guess they are between a normal rim and beadlocks. Some kind of bead retention grooves on the inside.

I was looking at the 17X9 with 3.5 or 4.5 backspacing for 37X12.5's.

Anyone have any intel on them?

Yeay for 37s!

Can't wait to see your rig up on those, will be less recovery work for me and Sam!

I like the concept of the Interco Birddog Wheels, but they are so new. Why not just do a proven beadlock for another $50.

Dot certifications on beadlock put them in a price range that is money well spent in other areas...

Well according to the Facebook page, if I order factory direct before Nov 1st it will be wholesale price $128-$145 ea. and they are DOT approved and low maintenance. This a slow developing mod, first wheels, I need to get my axles sleeved, gussetted, trussed and geared. Finally the tires. So you and Sam can look forward to continued recovery operations due to my rubi take-offs.

I agree DOT certification on a beadlock is a luxury item. The DOT's approval on a set of beadlocks won't help get jeeps over the next rock. However non-DOT is another story and a quality set can be found in the price range of many other wheel options. Be intelligent shoppers by checking boards, shows, and warehouse sales. The legality vs real world issues of streeting a non-DOT wheel can be called into question.

If DOT approval is a concern than my suggestion of beadlocks is invalid as you will have to pay significantly more for their

DOT does not certify wheels. They have a design spec that can be met. This given the correct way to state this is DOT Compliant. There is no such thing as a DOT compliant beadlock wheel, that uses a rock ring. A rock ring on a beadlock does not meet the DOT spec.

There is more to a true beadlock (more parts and hardware) and that would effect the cost though.
