Thumbs up Introduction and Question - Hello Socal

I just wanted to say hello and let everyone on this site know how terrible you all are. Since finding this site my obsession with buying a new jeep has been increased 10 fold. Your jeeps, trail runs, and just about every post I've read on this site has done me disservice. Now if I can just figure out how to take legal action against you all to somehow pay for all the goodies I now dream about everything would be forgiven.

In all seriousness though I'm extremely happy to have found this site. I've been doing my research for the past few months which includes visiting dealers, shops, and googling. At the beginning I was a little dissapointed that the jeep community in socal was looking to be rather thin that is until I ran across a few Project-JK.com videos on youtube. This site is by far the most active that I've found and I'm extremely happy to find out how many socal jeepers there are ,especially in the south orange county area. Again thanks allot to WOL, WOLlette, and every member of this site for providng so much entertainment and information to us folks in need of a fix. I dont even own a jeep yet but from reading your trail reports and seeing those incredible photos I already feel as though I do.

Oh yeah I live in Laguna Beach work in Aliso Viejo so basically right around the corner from allot of you. I'll keep an eye out for you guys driving around as I cant wait to see those jeeps in person. Especially that White JK WOL and WOLlette are cruising around right in my backyard. That thing is just incredible.

Ok so now that the intro is over here comes the question. I've read the rules and hopefully my question or the answers I'm looking for do not break any of the forum rules. If they do please disregard my question as I would not want to get me or anyone else into trouble.

I've been looking to pick up a used 2007-2009 Unlimited Rubi and have done tons of searching on all of the online used car sites. Preferred something with under 20k miles basically stock but the pickings have been limited. I then started looking at the Sahara and X models however I've been a little nervous about the Dana 30 up front as I plan to move up to a 35 or possibly 37" tire and while I understand the 30 can handle it with a regear I'm still just a little nervous and figure why upgrade later on when I can just get the 44 and 4:1 right off the bat.

Ok so here is the question. I've visited a few of the local dealers looking to just go with a new 2009 Rubi. I figured with the closing of dealers and slow car market now would be the time to get a great deal. The problem is the dealers I've visited lately have been unwilling to negotiate at all. Not sure if its an inventory issue or what. I thought some of you on here may know of a local dealer with a good inventory of rubi's that seems to be in the mood to deal with me. This was just a thought and I understand sort of a far fetched question but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Again thanks for the great site and hopefully I'll see you all very soon.

Steve

Almost forgot!!! I promise to always wave!!

About purchasing, Just keep looking in the newspaper for one of those " 1 at this price deals" and be ready to jump. I got my 2008 black rubi in December with every option available except for the navigation (sticker almost 36,000) for about $25,500.

Hey Steve...WELCOME

You should talk to Eddie (WOL) ...he just bought a new X Unlimited yesterday and it sounds like he got a pretty smokin deal! I think he went to Orange Coast. I have been pretty happy with the 30 so far, but do plan on upgrading to a 60 when the timing (read $$$) is right...After seeing what Eddie's 44 has survived, you would probably be better off with the Rubicon if you can find one...but don't discount the X...its a great ride!

I live in Aliso Viejo, so if you see my little red X drivin around, say HEY!

Welcome to the forum.

First of all I have an X with 35's and it is fine.

Second, I would get the list of Jeep dealers that are being shut down and start with them. You can go to any dealer for service after they close.

I got this email today

MASSIVE AUTO INVENTORY LIQUIDATION!

Star Chrysler Jeep in Glendale relinquishing franchise!
Now through June 7, 2009

Star Chrysler Jeep in Glendale has been ordered to relinquish their franchise. Massive inventory liquidation happening RIGHT NOW! Must liquidate all new '08 and '09 Chrysler Jeep models IMMEDIATELY! Prices so low, you have to see it to believe it. Save a lot of money on a brand new '08 or '09 Chrysler Jeep model. Massive liquidation at insane prices now through June 7, 2009.

Welcome,

I live near the LaBrea Chrysler, and they have a gorgeous 2007 jeep green Rubi 2dr. I think they are asking 26K but I am sure you could easily bring it down or close to your 20K budget.

I have a Rubi, and I am glad this is what I chose, I highly recommend it. I you go on hard core trails ( I do) all you really need is a moderate 2" tp 3" for extra clearance. but you have the D44, the lockers which works great, the auto. disconnect, etc...

Wow thanks allot for the great feedback guys and gals.

I will have to try out a couple of those suggested dealers to see whats available and how willing they are to move inventory. If I see any of you guys driving around town I will make sure to say hello and introduce myself.

Is it bad that I'm already thinking about purchasing a lift, wheels, and tires before the jeep is even purchased? Thats how bad of an influence you all are. I'm already getting ready to mod an non existent jeep.
