Okay... let's see if I got this: OP comes in complaining..... Travis gets defensive.... other chime in complying... still others debate weld beauty.

Travis and the OP are MIA?

OP needs to get in here and post some pics or I call foul.

Travis needs to get in here to defend his ass before it gets soiled.

Me..... trying to figure out which of the two is going to be the receiver Name: emot-a2m.gif

yeah. I love how he all of a sudden disappears on the forum. Maybe because he got called out for being a con artist. Because that's what he did to me. He burned me. Lesson learned. I learned not to trust someone just because he is a forum sponsor and seemed to be a good guy. He burned me for a lot of money that took me a long time to save up.

Or maybe Travis and the OP decided to handle their business offline? Who knows. You're the first one I've heard go as far as calling him a con artist. I see this thread going downhill real quick. Frankly, it'd probably be best if neither of them replied to this thread. Besides, this thread originally started as the OP asking for someone with a mobile welder. I don't get the impression he intended for it to turn into a BRUTE4CE bash session.

I won't try to comment on either yours or the OP's situation because I don't know the whole story and don't care to try and get involved, but I will share my experience with Travis. He has done nothing but right by me so far. I won't try to defend the look of the welds in those pics you provided. They may not look like a stack of dimes, but I don't doubt the strength of his welds he's done for me. Some of the work he's done for me includes adding rails to my Rubi rails and lower control arm skids, both of which I have bashed the crap out of. The welds are holding up fine. He's also done gussets and he fixed my VIAIR on-board air bracket that failed on a trail run. He did that for free by the way. The bracket broke clean at the weld point from the factory. Travis welded the bracket back together and added gussets to improve the design. The bracket has been solid since.

He is also the one I anchored to during a recent recovery on Superstition Mountain. I broke my driveshaft u-joint right at the start of Upper 13. I anchored to the custom bumper he fabricated himself and it held tight. It was 500+ feet of winching and pulling via recovery strap up hill and through some tough obstacles. The shackle tabs on his bumper held, even through the jerking motions created when using the recovery strap.

Sucks some folks have had bad experiences with Travis, but that doesn't mean he's an outright con artist with "the welding skills of an 8 year old using a Harbor Freight welder." Based on my personal experiences with the guy, I've got nothing but good things to say about him. In my opinion and based on my experiences with him, he provides quality service at an affordable price. I'll continue to go to him to get work done. Just my two cents.

i am glad that you are happy with the work that he has done for you. I'm sure that some of the people that got work done by brut4ce are happy. But I feel that I need to put it out there and share my experience. He took my money in advance and roped me along since September 1st on a front axle build. When I lost patience (after 3 and a half months) of being lied to, I picked up what parts to a incomplete axle that he had. I didn't even get all the parts from him that I paid for. And he is just feeding me stories on why he can't come up with the money to pay me back for the missing parts. I'm sure the problem is that a complete axle build is just to big of a project for him to complete. I just want people to be cautious when dealing with him. I know I'm not the first person he has screwed over. I have heard a few more stories like this. At this point I feel I need to warn the forum members.

It's surprising to hear because I've never had an issue with Travis or his work. My experiences have all been great.

I'm pretty sure these guys talked on the phone (see Brut4ce's second post) & probably worked something out. I'm still curious to see the actual damage tho... where's the pics???

I'm sure plenty of people have had a great experience with Travis, he is a nice guy, comes off as very knowledgeable, and eager to help people. That's probably his intent, but I'm aware of several instances where the deal didn't go so well and they all have similarities, the main one being, the customer paid in advance. After that these people are strung along, receiving excuse after excuse to why the work can't be done yet... in Chris's case I asked him on multiple occasions if he wanted to go wheeling, he would tell me he can't because his axle was supposed to get installed. The weekend would come and I would find out the work hadn't been done, because Travis was too busy with working on other rigs, family issues, or a part didn't Show up.... got family issues? Fine, but when I look on the forum to see he went wheeling or fab'ed up some parts for his own rig and blatantly lied to someone, I'm calling shenanigans. Personally, I wouldn't have given Travis so long to make good on the deal, but that's just me. Due to what was happening with Chris and his axle, I choose to go pay a lot more money to have my regear and axle work done by a legitimate shop, I had gotten a quote from Travis and almost took it to him. But there is more important things to me than cost.... integrity being one of them and safety even more so, I have a family that likes to ride in the jeep as well if the others I know of that have had issues with Travis don't want to step forward, that's fine, it's Their call. If there is no accountability than he won't change. To me at this point, it's not about him being a nice guy, he is of course marketing himself as a business, so I expect him to act like one and be accountable. He still has a chance to make right with Chris and also pay what he owns to a 4x4 shop, but I won't even get into the specifics of that one. Personally, until Travis either does right by those he has screwed or has his vendor star revoked, I don't think I will participate in any forum functions going forward:(
