Question Should I be Scared???

Been in SoCal for about two weeks now and am anxiously awaiting my JK (shipped from Europe)... It's an '08 with a True Flow XDI, Jet Performance chip, MBRP Cat-Back... and to my knowledge, is 49 state emissions legal (not Cali).

Do I need to worry about the emissions test? Will I have to replace the Mods I've made? Someone told me that the new fuel injected engines should pass California emissions without modification... or with a re-program from the dealer.

Anyone with experiences on this???

To register a vehicle on any bases or with the state you will need to be able to pass the emissions tests.

Yellow 08... yes... I'm back in the states...

Okay... Mr. Obvious here... of course I have to pass an emissions test. that's not the question. With my current setup... what do I need to think about or know.

I would be. I'm nervous every time I need a smog check.

I passed my California smog / emmisions test when I got it registered here (bought it in Arizona).

I had the Trueflow XDI and a Magnaflow exhaust, so neither of those should be a problem.

Mine was, however, declared "50 state emission legal" when I bought it. Not sure what that changes, other than paperwork.

So the mods probably won't be a problem. You might need to replace the CAI with a stock air box, if it doesn't have a CA sticker on it.

I don't, however, know what the "50 state" thing entails. Maybe ask a local dealer?

Note: My Trueflow XDI's inverted cone shape allowed water/mud to pool inside the cone at the bottom of the filter and get sucked through into the engine. I needed a new shortblock. I'd be very careful running that anywhere near water. Just my . Good luck with the CA emm. test.
