Default Smog and Superchips

Hi So Cal. I have my first Smog check coming up. Just wondering if I should deactivate my super chips programmer before I get it done. Thanks in advance for the helpful information.

Superchips is CARB legal so you shouldn't have a problem. You can return to shock to be 100% sure, as it isn't too much work, but I think it will pass with any of the tunes. If you don't have the tuner in sight it they won't even know.

I use the tow tune, which changes the shift points and I've modified the TPMS to 20 as well as calibrated my speedo for my tire size / gear ratio. So, I don't think these mods would affect smog, but you never know...
It may be the safer route to revert back to stock (as previously mentioned) , then flash back after you pass your inspection.

Good luck!

I had to have my 2010 smog checked when we moved to SD last year, did it with the 91 tune, TPMS at 20lbs, and tire size change with no issues.

Wow ok. Thanks for all of the great info. So I am not sure how to handle this next part and some more advise is needed. I just remembered that when I had my new wheels installed about 4 years ago that the TPMS sensor in one of the wheels possibly went bad or was installed wrong. Rather than bring it back, I just turned the TPMS off with the super chips.

Will I fail smog because of TPMS being turned off? I know its a requirement for 2008 and above vehicles. Mine is 2008.

I just had mine smoged with the Superchips on the tow tune. The only issue the guy brought up was the he "almost didnt pass because of the Superchips sticker on the side." I do not think think your TPMS being off will effect anything, i dont even have TPMS on mine i dont think. Do you have any dashlights?

You should be ok. There is two-part to the inspection. They look for visual mods like intake exhaust etc... Then the gases get measured out of the tail pipe. They plug into obd to get vehicle info. A check engine light will fail but I doubt tpms disable will fail you.

So I was thinking about leaving the super chips installed because of the TPMS issue but if its not gonna come up then I would rather reprogram back to stock. Technically I am illegally driving right now. My reg ended on the 22 and I mailed in my payment and it came back with Smog needed. I don't really have the time to fail this lol

Depends if it has a C.A.R.B E.O. sticker on it. What brand is it? If you don't have a sticker you can get one free from the manufacturer as long as the product is C.A.R.B approved.
