My son and I will be heading up this Saturday, for a mellow cruise to the top. We'll be going in through the Silverado Canyon gate. Would be great if others could join us.

Oh man, I'd love to but don't know if I can pull it off this weekend especially when I just went out 2 weekends in a row, will most likely be going out the weekend after to test out the new tires that I should have by then and then will be heading out to Moab after that

But, if I can pull it off, when and where are you planning to meet? If nothing else, it will help others who can make it join you

I was thinking to meet at Cooks Corner, or maybe the Silverado Canyon Gate. Depends on how well people know the area, and if we want to start with breakfast. I'll be in the area about 9:30.

BTW, found another good link for Cleveland National Forest. Topo Maps (they are NOT super good)

Woods, that run is nice cuz it's so close to home. Can't make it this time. BBQ in COTO. Not to mention two runs in the last 2 weekends. I gotta space em out or else momma takes the kids to school in the jeep and I get the van. Sorry. Maybe next time. Always want to see more JK's.

Well we had a great time up on Saddleback. We found the Geo Cache at Santiago Peak.
We also ran accross a couple of other JK's. One four door with over 10K miles on her.
She's a member of the Capo Valley 4 Wheelers. The group invited me to come to a meeting.
The other JK, had 3 flat tires by the time it made it to the bottom of the hill. Yup 3.
It was 4 days old, and the owner was running it hard. They had gone up the hill with a flat
spare from the day before. Then at the bottom of the hill both driver's side tires blew out, YIKES.

The Marine layer was thickdown low, but visibility over the clouds was over 100 miles.

Here's a little pic, from the top of the mountain;

Nice panoramic shot!!!!! However you can't see Santa Barbara. That would be most likely Santa Monica. Ater that those other mountains would be the Hollywood hills, Wt Wilson, Mt Baldy and Big Bear/Arrow head. Spectaclar views from up there.

There are alot of rocks up there. I was trying to keep up with Eddie when we went up and shreaded all four of my stocker tires. No flats but when we were done they looked like they went through a meat grinder.
