You still need a resistor to make them function. I purchased mine from poison spyder as well.

Oh for sure. I was thinking wellll those look really similar.. I see what you are talking about covering the lower tail gate hitch though. Starting a build thread could be a good plan. Check in modified jk tech.

Good looking for sure. Like the coverage for sure.
I dont get my lights from Orw I am direct with 2 suppliers now as well as the resistors for the lights I like the 2.5 rear clear but the cost is prohibitive through them.
Less diodes and cheaper quality make a difference optronics and truck lights both make a decent product its not hard to make copies and cut cost for sure and poison spyder has great lights that they use.
So don't think you made a bad choice they have great lights...

As far as functioning without resistors they function fine the load is light so you have blinkers that flash a little fast but no issues. The resistors just add load to slow flash.

Wasn't dogging yours by any means, but I believe your first set you made were with optronics from ORW, I saw how you did it and just differed with using 1/8" sheet metal and covered the whole back side of the corner. I looked over that thread a bit, and bought the lights and they have been sitting in my apartment for about 4 months.

Correct. I put a 08 top on my 2013 to drop it off somewhere and the freedom panels do not latch as tightly. The rear cap is identical though, so the fitment issue is more with the freedom panels in front and the footman's loop latch change in 11+ models.
