Swamp Lake
Put together a video of Boxrcon and my Swamp Lake trip a couple weeks ago. It's not a Project-JK quality vid but will give someone a rough idea of the technical rocky terrain of this #6 rated trail. Large file so I would suggest only downloading it if you’re interested in running this trail. Average download time is 15-20 min for a standard connection. Trail is rated expert but what the hell does that mean. If your into wheeling, have a decent set-up rig and don’t care about new pin striping and undercarriage damage it's probably the best trail I've wheeled and I'm sure Boxrcon would agree. Scenery is spectacular.

Swamp lake is on the way to Shaver lake here in the sierras by Fresno...I go to Bald Mtn all the time and swamp lake is on the way there...also near the Dusy - Ershim trail..Swamp . There are so awesome trails is these parts . Also look for mirror lake, coyote lake for the fishermen and women. I am not outfitted yet to do swamp or the dusy yet..I am told..but heading up to coyote soon

Swamp is similar to Coyote except a bit steeper. Stock Rubicon is doable, but I would recommend a lift and 35's. I would also make sure the evap can has been relocated or the trail may decide to relocate it for you.

Let me know when your headed up to Coyote and I will join you!
The gate at Coyote is a bit nasty (my picture to the left shows part of it), but can be bypassed to the right.

...shotgunning beers...wow..that was 25 years ago for me..memories
If it's bone stock I would wait. The most basic Jeep we had with us was a stock Rubi other than a 2.5" basic coil lift and he struggled. You would have some serious undercarriage damage no matter how experienced of a driver you are, not to mention some downtime strapping up. I just don't think it would be as much fun due to the fact you would be too stressed and not be able to actually enjoy the trail. The skids are short for Skid Plates which is a wise investment for any rig doing any type of trail. It doesn't take a huge rock to bust something underneath. You have many types of skids out there covering virtually every component and costing a couple hundred to up over a thousand for a complete set-up. I'm sure many here agree you should cover your Oil Pan, Tranny/T-case first and can get some nice thick skids for those components at almost every major dealer. Don't forget about new Diff covers also, the stocky's have been battle tested and won't hold up against a sizeable rock.
