anyone have suggestions on where to get chains in so cal/ high desert. its nice to have them on hand.

Opps... actually meant check the gap between the wheel/tire and the suspension components.... not much room... with any slop in a chain on the tire... I imagine it could bind up and make a big mess.

another good reason to reduce backspacing some....

Hah, this cracks me up... I lived most of my life in Alaska, but never owned chains... now I live in SoCal, and have chains... Not cause I need them mind you... laws

I find it to be very amusing as well. I haven't purchased any yet, but will be. I have lived in and around winter snow most of my life, and never even considered using chains, oh well, when in ... Cali...

I drove through heavy snow up in Lake Tahoe and just because I had a 4x4 they said go on ahead....it did real well...

you wont need it unless you go in to 2ft deep or deeper... (or on plolished SLICK hills, then dont get in their tracks)
