Welding Party?
So I'm almost finished installing a Currie RockJock lift in my driveway, and am leaving the hardest step for last (welding the f/r track bar relo brackets). It looks very easy, except for the fact that I don't weld (yet)!
Ultimate I want to do it right, and I've gotten a very agreeable quote from Rebel Offroad to git her done, but it would be a lot more fulfilling to work on this with someone so I can get my feet wet with welding. If anyone has the equipment and is feeling generous, let me know! I'm willing to exchange either a favor of equal value*, or tools, garage supplies, whatever! Or just some great beer and pizza.
I'm in the Pasadena area but could limp her anywhere pretty much within a reasonable distance. My axles just aren't centered so it'll be just a bit sketchy.
If not, no worries. Rebel will take good care of her.

Have a reputable welder do it. You don't want to be stuck on the trail asking around for a port-a-welder. Believe me it sucks, I've have done it too many times with the track bar bracket.
There are people that are professional welders that will travel to you, you just have to look in the construction or metal repair industries. These people aren't 4x4 fabbers though so make sure you show and explain exactly where you want it. After all, this is critical to steering your jeep.

Thanks guys - Very good point. Not going to turn down that advice. I guess I could try a mobile welder if I can find a good one, but it's not too much more effort just to take it in to Rebel anyway. I'll probably just go that route...
Two things,,, First.. the guy who built my complete suspension is just down the 210 from you, in highland. If you want his name and # PM me and Ill get it to you. He will put a quality weld on that thing and be 1/4 the price of rebel. He will probably do it while you wait, and teach you a little about welding.
Second,,,, Im not sure that beer holders are any less critical!!!

If it seems to drive sketchy with the axles offset like they are, I won't take it on the freeway. Might just go with a mobile welder in that case. I've been searching and haven't found any mobile welders with good reviews this far...
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!
Got her done today at my friend's shop. It was a little flighty on the freeway beforehand due to the axles being off center, but nothing dangerous (no DW or anything). She's driving great now though!
