Good question. The Currie kit comes like that. I suspect that the left shock might contact the track bar bracket if left in the stock position???

Losing a shock can equate to major damage if one's not running limit straps.

You can put the shock in it's proper place to keep it more protected... as far as I recall when I ran that setup, it only rubbed lightly.

As far as welders go.... I don't think I'd be as worried as these guys are leading you to be. There are plenty of backyard welders that do a fine job... many you may find are better than the pros. As for the particular issue this guy had that posted... I still think we never heard the other side of that story before the moderators here banned the other side of that story. VERY fishy to me. Not saying it isn't all on the up and up.... but one has to wonder. I know you already got it done, just something to consider for next time.

You bring up something that I haven't thought about....Limiting straps. I just put on my 4 link so now I have 11.25" of travel for the front and my rear CO's with 12" of travel. Trying to gain some insight on this limiting strap information.

More info can be had on PBB on COs and how/why to set them up... including lots of limiting strap discussion.

But, I can quickly tell you that limiting straps are a requirement with COs if you don't care to destroy them.
