You can drive on the beach down there?

It's not so much a beach per se.Dunedin causeway has sand, and direct from the gulf saltwater, and yes you can drive on it. But we dont really have 100 yards of beachfront sand to setup a volleybal net. I'll drive down there and scope it out in the morning. maybe post some pics.

There is lots of room to drive on the beach here in St. Augustine. Vilano Bch or Matanzas Inlet are really wide and a lot of fun. Dunedin wd be more central but just a thought...

It is in the northernmost part of Clearwater, NW of Tampa Bay. The link above shows the causeway itslef. The Island at the end is Honeymoon Island which has some awesome beaches and really cool hiking trails. If you hit the google maps street view link, you can see what the beach on the causeway looks like

Excuse me guys but I think I might be confused

The thread started off by talking about getting together for a beach day with the Jeeps, pretty much?!

Now it's turned to a day at a causeway...

What happened to the beach???

Unfortunately I have very little knowledge about the west coast but I know that there are several good beaches you can drive on and gather a big group at over here. One of my favorites is New Smyrna Beach. But you always have Daytona or Ormond and so-on.

A beach you can cruise down sounds a whole bunch more fun than a causeway you can park at.

Hell, I've got four causeways I could park at right down the road... Not so much fun.

Dunedin causeway is the only way to get out to Honeymoon Island State Park. Move the map to the left. It's really nice out there. Good place to hang out and take pictures.

Yeah, ok then what other places would be central enough to draw a good crowd and give us a location more like what we're looking for?

Somewhere more "Beach Party"ish

New Smyrna is nice, but I don't think you can you drive on the beach there. Besides my neighborhood, Daytona is the other I know of but not only is that a bit north for peeps down beyond Tampa, the few times I've been it looks like it can get pretty crowded. We'd have to make sure we scheduled around any local events.

Are there no suitable places over on the west side?
