Here are some links to other rides on the Talladega Skyway Trail. These are from my FJ Cruiser days. You will have to read through them to get all the info. Also there are lots a pics. So you can see what the trails are like. Most of pics are towards the end of the threads.

Hope this helps.

Default Skyline / Skyway trail

Does anyone know how to access the Skyline/Skyway? We've tried to call the Ranger station at Talladega NF and the woman that answered said that it's a "walking trail". Hmm... Any help would be appreciated.

I actually just talked to Stacey on Facebook. I sent her an email asking about it. She said that they are going to do a run this Saturday in Skyline, AL. I am going to pass though because it's short notice and it's a bit of a ways away. She seems sweet and their group of trail riders seem like they have a really good time together. It would be really nice to get something like that going down here.

I am going to go explore the Talladega N.F. and see if I can find these trails. The ranger that I spoke to acted like she had no idea as to what I was talking about and when I said 4x4 she said something about ATV and dirt bikes only at Kentuck. I'll never know unless I go. Maybe I'll come back with some details and we can plan something in the future.

As for now, if you'd like to join me Saturday come on! PM me and we'll talk about meeting up. I am not guaranteeing anything "off-road" as I don't know what I'll come across.

Count me in for Saturday XLVII..I know one trail in the Talladega Forest that is about 17 miles long but there's really not much to it..But, I do want to find the trails that FJ guy was talking about and I believe the best course of action is to pick up a map at the ranger station. The maps posted earlier are good but I was hoping the zoom would be more distinguished about the entrance and exit of the skyway.

I agree. Shoot me a PM with your phone number so that I'll have it for Saturday. My brother is going to join in a bare stock Rubi so this might be a good easy trip for him. Do we want to start in Sylacauga or in Talladega? Either way I'm cool with.

If anyone else wants to join for a Saturday morning joy ride, c'mon.

Default Hi

The paved road that leaves Cheaha (going south) will end at an intersection. Go across and you will be on a dirt road that will lead you through the forest. 600 - 1

It was difficult to me to find 600-2 but with a map we found 148.

Hollins WMA had a lot of fun places to go. Take all the roads off of 148 and it will keep you busy for a day. Great scenery. Nothing very tough unless you go when it rains. I've done this twice - once with my son and once with a friend.

Default Perfect.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! It's supposed to rain tomorrow but either way it'll be nice to just get out. Sometimes "not too difficult" is exactly what is needed. =) Thanks everyone for your input. I hope to have some pictures and possibly video maybe even some highlighted trails.

A great day all in all, the weather was perfect and we were all prepared in case something happened..Also, If there are any other fellow JK'ers who'd be interested in joining the convoy the next time we go, and seeing what your rig can do; you're more than welcome to join us. XLVII is GPS'ing the trails for us but there are so many trails it'd take at least a year or more to find them all, seems a 4x4 challenge is always lurking around the corner or up/down the hill
