Birmingham, AL Saturday February 20th
Thanks for posting that! It was beautiful. So much so that I am going to go back out this Saturday. Anyone interested? I'm gonna leave Birmingham around 7:00 or 7:30 and get an early start. The wife needs me home by 3:00 so I gotta have as much fun as possible by 2ish before I head home. Let me know if you're interested. So much to see and do with so little time.
It's a little bit of everything. I used 4 wheel low quite a bit. There are dirt roads, gravel roads and paved roads. All have off shoots that are a blast. The ranger told me that if the gate to a trail was open, we were allowed to take it. So there are numerous trails that require 4 high and 4 low and some that are not as tough. There's definitely enough out there to make a day of it though.
I haven't really considered which route yet. Last Saturday we took 20 to 431 to 281 and rode in from there. I'm open to whatever.
I HAVE to be HOME by 3:00. So that means I'll make my way out of the park around 2:00.

I got in touch with the guy who usually leads the trail ride, and he said he likes CR 6000-1. We could start it from the other end and end up coming out by Sylacauga.
I will probably be going if we are back by 3pm.

A great day all in all, the weather was perfect and we were all prepared in case something happened..Also, If there are any other fellow JK'ers who'd be interested in joining the convoy the next time we go, and seeing what your rig can do; you're more than welcome to join us. XLVII is GPS'ing the trails for us but there are so many trails it'd take at least a year or more to find them all, seems a 4x4 challenge is always lurking around the corner or up/down the hill

There was a mud hole here and there and some "moguls" that the four doors had some trouble with but all in all it was mainly trail rides. Some long some short but we only did probably a quarter of the park. It was a really fun day. We're actually heading back tomorrow morning early if you're (or anyone) interested. We're meeting at the Chevron at the Leeds/Bass Pro Shops exit off of I-20 at 7:30. A CB and or two way radios are ideal. For anyone reading this post, two way radios are a wonderful tool! I picked up a pair at Bass Pro Shops for $39.99 and they're perfect. I think they're made by Midland and the box has an ATV on it. I would actually prefer to use them instead of the CB because my antenna was rocking so hard last weekend and it was annoying. I need to tighten it maybe. So far for tomorrow it looks as if we've got 5 or 6 Jeeps joining us.
