Gainesville Dealership
I just moved from NSB to Gainesville and I'm looking for a dealer. Anyone know of a good one. I saw a Mercedes/Jeep dealership and I might go there if I start to have any troubles.
Best Jeep dealership I was able to find around here was in Crystal River. I live in Ocala, and ended up buying mine from Pensacola. I haven't found a deealership of any kind that I like in Gainesville. The Jeep dealership in Ocala usually has a better selection of vehicles on the lot, but the dealers know next to nothing about Wranglers and aren't very helpful in general.
But hey, don't let my experiences stop you from giving it a shot yourself!

I had a great experience purchasing my 08 Jeep from Phillips in Ocala. My salesman was John Keefe a 4 wheeler in his own right!***-***-**** . Tell him "Sheriff Tom" referred you.

I bought my JK from Ron Jordon at Phillips. This is the second Jeep that Ron has sold me. The first one I bought from him was in 1990, it was not new, it was an 83', but I bought it from Ron. We were sitting at a light and I looked over at the ditch and asked if the 4 wheel drive worked, put it into 4 wheel and took it through the ditch... I have not had anything that Phillips didn't help me with. Especially when you print off the TSBs from this website and carry them in with you
I called the Mercedes dealership. They work on Mercedes so they have to be good. Plus Jester recommended them so I'm going for it. They service woman on the phone was incredibly helpful. Checked recalls for me even though I knew it wasn't a recall, asked me to fully diagnose the problem I was having. Even understood what a TSB was. I got an appointment for tomorrow at 3:30. I just hope they get it done before Friday so I can have my baby back to go to school and for labor day weekend. Oh and that they will still fix it under warranty as a pre-existing issue.
Good luck with the Mercedes dealer, but from my experience, that only means they know Mercedes... I took my jeep there 3 times for the clutch squeal TSB and the techs said 3 times that it was the rear suspension, tranny mount and the steering shaft. The 4th time they ran out of options and finally did the TSB, and what do ya know, that fixed it!
Lol, hopefully they've learned and will help you out better then me, but if not, just keep hounding them, they'll give eventually

While you are there, say hi to my Rubi for me. During the storms last week I blew a door seal and filled the Jeep with water. They have a complete set of seals on order and they should be here tomorrow.
I should have it back this Friday......
They do a very good job, but they do have one mechanic that is an ass.

I'm taking it there today. I should have known that as soon as I mentioned needing a new dealer I would develop problems again. Oh well... hopefully if I tell em which TSB's are the problems they'll fix it right the first time.
Who is the ass mechanic?

I don't remember his name right now, but a tall guy, 35ish, sandy hair and the first stall on the left when you go in the large bay door at the end of the service lane.
I took my Jeep there to see if they could activate the DRL's after verifying with service that it might be an option. It takes 10 minutes to check it out, since I had the step by step directions, and he sent it back without looking at it ans said it wasn't an option. Now, I have an appointment for an hour to do this, minimum charge you know, and I said I would at least like for him to check and see if the option was in the computer.
He takes it back to his bay, not too happy.
After about an hour I asked what was going on since I could see my Jeep sitting in the middle of the service area and no one was working on it. Remember I had an appoinment..... They say he is looking through the computer step by step to make sure it isn't an option. Great, but no one is by my computer...... He has a wireless system to check the computer on your Jeep. WHAT !!! WAY COOL.
After watching my Jeep for 15 minutes more I walk into the bay, yea I know I am not allowed there, no one is within 50 feet of the bay.
I called the service guy and asked him how it is going on the Jeep, he states that the guy is working on it right now. ????? I told him where I was and he came back to see what was going on.
I walked to the service bay and stood there. 5 minutes later the mechanic comes out driving my Jeep and yells at the service guy, "Whos Jeep is this?"
He points at me, now I should tell you I am 6 foot 3 at 260 and at that time I wasn't a happy camper.......
He turns and looks up at me and mumbles to me that "I totally wasted his time, by bringing my Jeep in this morning"
I just stood there and looked back at him. Did say a word and he left saying he wasn't going to charge me since he didn't do anything. I said, " You are correct, you didn't do anything except waste my 2 hours here." And he disapeared into the service area.
I blame the service writer as much as the mechanic.
But, from now on I will talk to the service manager if I get any problem what so ever and they know it.
In all fairness, I have had my Jeep in there several times for TSB's and adjustments, and they haven't charged me nor have I ever had a problem with anyone there, until then.
