I'd go with the crowd on this and get the KM2s - there's a good reason almost everyone is running them.
I had 35s in the exact same tire that I've currently got in 33s. The 33s are burning the tread at a rapid rate (more than 11/32" gone in 8000 miles) so I'm going to upgrade to a better tire and hopefully be able to sell the 35s that are sitting in the garage.

Got my 3' Firestik antenna tuned tonight using Dennis's SWR meter.

Ch1 @1.0 SWR
Ch19@1.5 SWR
Ch40@2.0 SWR

Just to double check, I connected my 4' Firestik and readings were similiar.

BTW: The 4' antenna had an hand adjustable screw, but the 3' antenna did not. I had to cut the coils in increments to get the SWR down to the acceptable readings.

Dennis: I need to use your meter this weekend to check my coworker's antenna. Earl was the one that went wheelin with us even though he had a TJ. Nobody can forget the "sick whale" sound his cb made!!!

Hmmm - I don't think you're finished yet Jeff. See ---> Firestik's Setting SWR help page. I'll bring over one of my new Easytune 3' Firestik II antennas Sunday if you're still getting high readings, and we can try tweaking it.

Wow!!
I noticed your 33s looked worn, but just assumed you'd driven the fool out of them. Only 8K with that kind of wear is pitiful - those old Baja Claws must have been made out of extremely soft rubber.

I'm guessing ground issues with Earl's CB. It sounded to me like he was getting feedback into his system. Again, just a wild guess.

Wilky - I can't remember, but have you setup a CB yet?

Also, what rims were you running on your old TJ (which looked like a nice rig, by the way)?

That's fine, we need to do whatever's necessary to put that whale out of it's misery.

My TJ had a Uniden, but I let it go with the TJ when it sold. I haven't installed in the JK yet, but plan on going with one of the self-contained Cobra units and Firestick.
Most of us around here simply use two-way radios when wheelin' b/c the mtns. just about kill any CB range.
The rims on the ol' TJ were Pro-Comp Series 1069, 15x8, 3.75 Backspace.
