Was going to go with something like this "not to be named" skid plate at Quadratec, but that seems like ridiculous coin for a piece of metal.

The RANCHO® RockGEAR™ Oil Pan Protection looks like a good compromise:

What do you guys think?

Only $380 for yet another manufacturer's piece of metal - I'm not buying cheap junk and installing it on Wilbur. Let me know when you guys find the good stuff (i.e., a piece of metal preferably in the $700-$800 range).

And I want it to weigh a lot too - the heavier, the better.
Yeah, and I want it to be red!!

However, for a few more dollars over the powder coated one, you could get the Rock Hard skid plate. The only problem is I don't know how this skid plate would mount up next to the factory transfer case skid. (It's late and I'm too lazy to go crawl under my jeep right now.)

So I had to tell someone.... Im sitting at the airport and hear my name called out... come to find out... I got a free upgrade to 1st class on my 8HR flight to Alaska. It also came with free internet... how cool....
sent from 37000 feet.

P.S. - let me know if you find any super Craig's List deals since you may not personally be in a position to take advantage of them, gallivanting around Alaska and all.
Thats cool dude, makes an 8hr flight much easier
Yup - I'm not disagreeing with you guys in that frame mount is certainly the strongest option and offers a "layered" protection approach. On the other hand, we've all been just fine without anything protecting our oil pans for a couple years now. I'm just looking for a little extra protection this time around - maybe in the future when rock gardens begin singing their siren song to me, I will reconsider.
