I certainly hope that none of you have to replace your engine like I am having to. If you are hearing the start-up rattle, go ahead and plan on changing your oil/filter. New filter should keep the oil from draining back into the engine while sitting overnight.

Man, I am becoming more and more disillusioned with the whole Jeep thing. After having my TJ stolen, and now this whole JK engine fiasco, I am thinking maybe I shoulda just bought something else. I have been driving a Jeep product (ZJ, TJ, JK)for the past 7-8 years, but right now I really don't see myself owning another one.

Somebody better talk me off of this ledge. The view is looking pretty good up here .............

damn gone one day the this tread goes crazy...note to shelf, dont use the word twit or twat in this forum thread.....i have no idea where that went...

anthony i had this conversation with someone yesterday, and yea im spooked BIGTIME ive considered bailing out of mine a couple times, had i read this thread first im pretty sure i wouldnt be driving henry now....im keeping him serviced (yes henry) and just hoping he holds together, no engine noise or start-up rattle but from what u r saying that's not a sure sign anyway.....i think once you get your hemi up and running you will be better off than the rest of us here....if i could put my finger on another vehicle i think could replace henry, i could be tempted to jump also

I guess, in the grand scheme of things, there really aren't that many major engine issues out there. When you look at the total number of JKs out there vs. the number of reported engine failures, it does seem pretty isolated. Unless you are one of the few that something does happen too. Then, it just sucks. NIAGW. And if the law of averages applies here, then none of you guys and girls should have to worry.

Anyhoooo........ been thinking of ordering some sleeves and gussets, since I have easy access to the front axle with the engine out. And, I will have somebody to weld them in for me.

Might as well go ahead and sleeve and gusset the axle. I believe if you do that, you should be good to go. I'd talk to taylor about it. I'm sure his 44 is all done up if he is running 42" tires on it. At least I would hope it would be.

That is what I am thinking. That, and maybe some new axle shafts, and I shouldn't have to worry about the axles.

Mine's at RCOR right now getting sleeves and gussets in the front, alloy axles, gearing, and lockers front and rear. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hopefully phase I will be complete by the end of the month!

Micah,

Nice to hear from you again... I was talking to Dennis the other day about not seeing you post in the last few weeks.

I hope that everything is going well with you.

Can't wait to see your ride.
