Well, you've heard of The Song That Never Ends, when I put in the Edge 5W20, I had the knock that never ends. I dumped that oil and put in the 5W30 and the knock went away. I still have the knock on a cold start up, but that's probably due to the filter.

I'm glad you mentioned that Dennis. I've got that 5W20 in my engine and had the knocking for a while now. Going to try going with the Valvoline full synthetic next and see if it helps.

Default and another scenario.......

ive run mobile 1 in henry since the first oil change and i did it at 3k, never any sounds even at start-up, im at around 36k now and last week, thursday i think it was cold, and he made a hell of a clammer at start up, but then settled down to no noise or knock at all, and hasnt done it since...the only thing i did different was use the remote start, id never used it before and havent since...certainly that couldnt be the cause of the start up noise? you think?

Keep in mind that I have always run Mobil 1 5W-20 and a Wix filter with no problems. It was only when I switched to a different brand oil and filter that I got the noise.

Also, after I dumped that particular oil and replaced it, the noise went away. So it's less of an engine issue and more of an oil issue.

x2 As long as you perform regular tune-up/maintanence, you probably will not have any major issues. I would guess as soon as you change your filter, and maybe go a little thicker on the oil, you probably won't ever hear the knock again. Until it is time to change your filter again.

Hey .......... wait ............. did Wilky just call me a jerk??

Well, there IS that ..............

Was looking through some random pix, and found this one. I like the juxtaposition of the mud against the Steel Blue, and the post-Impressionistism of the parking lights to accentuate the use of the black and white background.

And also the dude in the white ball cap leaning back saying "Duuuuude!"

Alas, sadly the only wheeling I get to do these days is to reminisce through photographs of days gone by ........... Anybody want to lend me their Jeep for a weekend? I promise to not tear ......... Ah hell, I aint gonna lie. I will wheel it like I stole it.
