I removed the hard top about a week ago and finally had to put the soft top on yesterday because of rain. I was pleased with the ease of putting the rack into tilt position and that the soft top went on fairly easily (although you do need to snake it under and then lock in the sun rider clips otherwise it hits the light bar). The problem I'm having now is that the soft top is flapping up and down and hitting the Gobi rock at the first gobi crossbar (about 3/8s of the way back). I do have the wind deflector and I don't have the front inserts for the Gobi rack (that go over the freedom top front panel area) . I know somebody had this problem with a home made wind deflector. Anybody else having the soft top smacking the Gobi rack problem? I'm used to plenty of road and wind noise but this is really irritating. Starts kicking in around 35 MPH. I hope I can fix this. If nobody else has any issues maybe I'll try tacking the wind deflector off and see what that does.

UPDATE: It actually is hitting towards the rear of the Jeep soft top, not the front. It seems that when driving at higher speeds I have increased pressure inside the cabin that pushes the soft top out (it is actually touching the rack towards the front) and it is flapping against it in the back. When I open even one of the front windows it stops doing it. So, I figured it was just a pressure thing. Wrong, if I open the back windows I still get the "overinflated" soft top and the flap against the rack. Help!

It's been another 3 weeks gone by. Any word from the manufacturer? I haven't heard from the shipper yet.

I got my Gobi rack yesterday and installed it! The instructions are somewhat "meh", and I mostly went off visual to install it. Worked out well in the end. Some of the engineering choices are also "meh", for example, the windguard and the ladder using different sized allen bolts. I mean...WHY.

Anyway, overall quality is excellent, very firm/stiff/stable. Wind noise is not a problem at all. I love it.

I used loctite on the windscreen -- as the nuts/bolts it comes with are not locking...also a questionable decision.

Of note, my Sirius radio is working just fine with the rack -- without moving the antenna. Anyone else experience this?

Does anybody have any problem with the soft top flapping against the rack at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine works well too, considering it's receiving through a metal screen.

Before I installed the wind deflector, I noticed some flapping of the soft top caused by buffeting from the wind, but not enough to contact the bars of the rack. However, when I have my cabin "inflated" (blower on more than two clicks, windows up, not on recirc) then the soft top does touch the middle bar of the rack insert in the front. I have not noted whether it touches in the back.

There is no flapping against the soft top under any conditions though.... I have an early '07 build and I think they modified the top design slightly at some point, so maybe that has something to do with it?
