I like this much more than the original. The original gave the jeep a "pointy mustache" look to it. I was really torn between this new one and the arb but I think this one has better tire clearance than the arb.

i also thought the new bumper didn't really look right after admiring the first edition of the design, but after looking at these pictures it really shed some new light on the idea. I still really like this bumper, it looks strong and durable so i bet it holds it's own. i also like how you can have it with or without the hoop, but i think with the hoop looks really good. hopefully i can snag one of these someday

What I think MBRP did was to attempt to narrow their original design to work on a non "flaired" jk opening up a larger consumer base.

When I first started my "Jeep Thing" last February I picked up a jeep mag with a picture of the Fab Four bumper on the cover. I had to have it. I mean it was massive and it really appealed to me. Then I saw one installed at my dealers. It was mounted on an unlimited with 37" tires. It looked right but woah the whole package was HUGE! I decided right there that the FF bumper was out for my little two door.

This new MBRP bumper has the feel of the FF bumper without the bulk. I realize we all debated the location of the lights (I was one that wanted them outboard but having seen the final product I don't think that would have worked). I would have liked removeable wings but due to potential patent problems MBRP scrapped the idea. Again, real world compromise.

I stand by my original statement that this final production design is really a great looking bumper with features like enhanced tire clearance, factory fog light mounts, protection for the factory sway bar disconnect, srew pin clevis mounts and even mounts for my light bar. I can't wait to get it on my JK.
Thanks for the kind words! We are load testing all of the new bumpers today and tomorrow to ensure there is not going to be any issue down the road if you ever need get towed out, or help someone else out on the trail. These new bumpers really are tough as nails.

Management won't let anything ship until it has been approved.

This is exactly why the wings are tapered and the length that they are. We tried to maximize tire clearance without taking away from the looks of the full width bumper.

I would guess by your post that they passed.

Not relevant to this thread but Steve the dyno test today revealed an anemic 120 rwhp on stock (87) tune and 127 rwhp with a 93 performance tune. I think I will get a long rubber hose and blow into it to increase hp. Couldn't hurt!
