Any specs on how much weight can be put on top of it? I assume it can hold a decent amount with 16 gauge....

Im assuming it works as a lockable trunk when the top is off the jeep and the tailgate being closed is what locks the lid down? Also, does the back portion running parallel to the rear seat lock so someone couldn't just fold the seat down and take everything that way?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

That panel is mounted to the tub with the rear cargo loop bolts. With the panel installed, the only way to get to those bolts would be through the tailgate. So although the panel isn't locked per se, it would be very difficult to remove from the other side. If someone really wants to get in, they will. But I think your stuff would be pretty safe from casual thieves.

Check out the installation instructions here: http://www.tuffyproducts.com/images/...st/282INST.pdf

Do these security trunks affect the sound from the sub-woofer?

I had the 4 door version with a sub and it didn't affect it that much. Hopefully my new enclosure ships soon so I can see how it works with my Bazooka. It is a lot more powerful than the factory sub so I doubt it will affect it very much.

Got my Tuffy enclosure today and installed it in about 10 minutes. Very simple design, easy to install. It provides pretty good protection, and hides your valuables away from prying eyes. It really hasn't affected the sound quality of my sub, but I have a 250W powered Bazooka tube.

I had two problems with the design...

1. There is no bracing across the middle of the lid and it would be very easy to pry up. I would probably weld some sort of metal support channel/rib or bar across the back of the lid for some more structural integrity.

2. I can't get the back seal #4.4 to fit and still close the back window with the hardtop. I am afraid to slam the tailgate shut with the seal in place, there is a lot of resistance, so I removed it. There is a hard plastic piece on the bottom of the back window of the 2011 hardtop that actually touches the metal lid of the enclosure, making any seal impossible to put on.

Does the top of the enclosure flip up? (kind of like on a a piano hinge) -- Or does it come completely off when you have to put taller items in the back. The instructions says "no tools required" to take off the top, but I can't see how it works in the diagram. Can you post pics of yours with the top (or lid) up/off, and down? Thank you.............. I'm a soldier too, PCSing this summer and have my 2012 Flame Red 2 DR, half doors, S package ready for pick up!
