Thanks for setting me straight on this!

If you want, you could delete the pictures from your post as mine are now working!

It is possible my taped ones will come apart, but not likely. I didn't wrap parallel to the connections right on top of the joint, that would definitely come apart. Instead, I wrapped an 'X' to hold them together - so the tape went on the left side of the top cable to the right side of the bottom cable, etc. I've used that config for other cords that have gone through mud and rain successfully before. Besides, at some point the bulb will die and I'll need to replace it - so whenever that happens I'll be able to check on the connection. (plus it sounds like David's going to look in to it and maybe send out replacement cords anyway)

I figured that out (sometimes it's not great to be on the first set, but that does happen).

Check my posting; I have pictures of the original (factory) connector), the replacement connector, and how we modified the replacement connector to make the connection fit without the use of anything additional.

For those that have modified, is a box knife enough to pare down the extra plastic?

Although we used a Stanley knife, a box cutter would probably do, at least for the two outside ridges. As for trimming down the center piece, you might have a problem narrowing it a bit. Not sure how far down yhe blade on a box cutter can reach. I think a single-edged razor blade might do, but the plastic is tough!

Eddie made no mention of this issue. Maybe cause he received a pre-production kit and for some reason they changed connections?

"Eddie"? Not sure who you are referring to.

I do know that X-caiver had a problem that the connectors would not "click" together so he used electrical tape to hold them in place. I'm not sure if his problem was the same as mine, but it sure sounds like it.

Dave (northridge4x4) has promised to look into what's going on and fix it. That is great. After the trimming mine clicked together as they should so I'm not concerned/worried, but I am interested in seeing what changed.

I do know that from time to time Chrysler has made minor changes to the JKs. For example, the tray in the center console. My 2007 JK did not come with one. I purchased one from the dealer. Subsequent investigation revealed Chrysler changed the suports for the tray in 2008 and then again in 2009; haven't checked out what they look like in the 2010s.

Regardless, I have come up with a method to secure the tray in my 2007 JK center console.

Sometimes you just have to be ingenious and figure these things out!

Eddie is wayoflife on here. This is his website, he is the grand poo-bah of everything that goes on on here. And he received the first prototype set of these lights.

Please don't take away the keys to my JK for not knowing WOL's real first name . I did know WOL, but not by first name basis.
