I didn't clear coat it but had to install it bare because it started to rain as I was working on it

That doesn't look bad. It's going on my wife's black JKU. She has the chrome gas door and door handles. She wanted it painted silver and my buddy asked why I didn't install it bare. I'd probably color match if it was going on my red JKU.

I imagine the sun could beam off it and kill ya if kept bare at the right angle, though it would look great on black.

I think I'm going to bolt it up bare and see how it looks.

We've seen a couple of them installed bare and it looks pretty good. Keep in mind though, that there are some machining marks that will still be visible if you don't paint or coat it. Also, it will eventually dull slightly over time, as the aluminum oxidizes.

Thanks. I know it will oxidize if left bare. I thought I'd install it bare to see how the wife liked it before committing to paint or clear coat.

Looks great I'm gonna order one. How long did it take you guys to install? I'm also wondering if I should have it matte black powdercoated by my local powdercoater or just order it powdercoated from psc. Thanks a lot.

If I had it to do over again, I'd pay the extra $40 or whatever to have it powdercoated as my unfinished PSC louver came covered in oil and metal shavings/splinters. Took quite awhile to clean - I thought I had performed a decent job of cleaning it initially, but when I sprayed on a coat of primer, I saw a lot of metal splinters still remaining at each cut-out. It was very time consuming trying to wipe them away as those cut-outs are extremely sharp (i.e., watch your fingers). Anyway, hopefully when they powdercoat the louver, you receive it perfectly cleaned and ready for your preferred paint/color/coating.
