$95 to do what
Unfortunately I have a job where people like to target my personal s#!t, so I bought a $20 locking gas cap for the JK, and got a hood lock (the MOPAR one) from the dealership for free...well had to pay time, frustration, aggrivation, and more time...but no cash. MOPAR does sell a $70 locking gas cap that does get keyed to the ignition key (as does the hood lock) which I might buy down the road just for convenience sake.
As for the original question. My JK came with locking lug nuts but no key...I guess I neglected to go over the option list with a fine tooth comb and see that (
) and dealt with all sorts of hassle (see above paragraph). Now I am getting a set of five locking lugs and a key sent to me for free.
I had locking lugs before on a different vehicle, a set I bought from Pep Boys I think and they were okay. The pattern on the key side of the set strips out and eventually sucks a$$. But, as mentioned before if you take your time and are gentle with them and don't use an impact wrench then they should last a while.
I've seen the steel rope before and always thought that was a little much, but then again so is $500 for a rim / tire combination on the black market!

I used to have a couple of used car dealerships. When we got cars in with locks and no key we'd just hammer a socket on and take the locks off. I think they even made special sockets for this.
I had them for a while, one day I went to take the wheels off and there was one I couldn't get off in the normal fashioned. Even though I had torqued them up at last rotation and knew they weren't over tightened I could not hold the key in hard enough to get it off. I ended up using the key in a beefy IR 1/2 impact and really leaned into it hard. It broke it free - I took them all off. I figured that if that happened on the trail I'd have had a real problem.

Is that locking gas cap to save you from buying a new cap? Because you have not been able to syphon gas out of a tank for over 10 years with the federally mandated roll over valve between the opening and tank.
As to locking lug nuts, they fit the basic definition of a lock:
To keep an honest man honest...
I keep the lock code number, telephone and web site for my McGard locks in a folder with all my other JK paperwork at home. Also put one of the serial number stickers into the manual on the tire changing section. Figure any theives do not need the manual to boost my wheels.,.
Took my old truck to the dealer and as part of the service they had to remove the tires. Top of the locking nut broke clean off leaving only a ring of it around the stud wedged inside the hole in the rim. They torched it to get it out, slightly damaging the one rim, and then replaced the stud all free of charge. That model had special rims too. When I saw the sign in the Jeep dealership stating they are not responsible for damage to or caused by the locking lug nuts i decided not to have them installed. I am considering one for the spare that will be installed with less than full force but I will not eat it on a damaged rim because of those things ever again.
