07 hard top on a 13
As far as I know, it will work... My 2012 is no different than my 2007... Except for a way better ride, engine, transmission and a million other features.... But I think the tops will interchange...
This is a picture of a foot man loop below with my cb mount on it. It was moved slightly over some time after 2007. Looks like from the quote below it was moved in 2011. I think a newer hardtop will not fit on an older JK before the footman loop move. It seems your cool with putting the older hard top on s 2013. The older models hardtop didn't even use that footman loop shown at all. It connects in the middle of those 2 pannels.

I've answer this many times now.
The tops are all phisically the same size and will fit on any year jeep.
So the difference are
Freedom panels.
07-08 are the same ( center latches to not attach to the footmans loop)
09-10 are the same ( center latch attaches to the footman loop)
11-12 are the same ( different drip rails( outside) after that they are the same as the 09-10)
Back halfs
07-10 are the same. Smaller windows and only forward aligment pins.
11-12 are the same. Larger windows and 4 aligment pins.
If you want to run the newer back half of the top on an older jeep you need to remove the aft 2 aligment pins. If you want to run the older tops on a newer jeep just install and go.
For the freedom panels just make sure that they are both the same year (matching each other).
If you never had a hardtop from factory you will need an install kit ( wiring) for it and get the dealer to flash the computer so the defrost will work. As well you will need the 6 body nuts and 6 hard top screws for it to bolt to the jeep. Make sure them as well.
To help you out with it. I have an 09 that I'm using a set of 07 freedom panels with a 11 back half. It all fits and works I have the typical 07-08 freedom panel leaks but no other issues with t.
As for price, 4 door tops are quite plentiful so 500-600 range is kinda standard around here and on the for sale section so less then that and you will have gotten a good deal. As well make sure that all the windows are good they are quite expensive to buy if it's missing windows 100-200 range IMO.
As well to the other poster, the dealer says it won't fit due to the larger windows and the 2 extra aligment pins. It will fit fine on older jeeps with the aligment pins removed. The only year that will have problems are gonna be the 07-08 due to the location of the footmans loop. They will have to move the footmans loop over for the top to work on their jeep. That's about it.
Hope this helps you guys out.

07-10 the back half of the tops are the same, minor differences in the seals. The different comes with the freedom panels, 07-08 the center latch does not go over the foot man loop. 09-10 it does. 09-10 the footman loop is moved over a bit. 11-12 the back half of the top has changed as well as seals but the freedom panels are the same as the 09-10. ( minor difference)
So you can run a newer top on a older body, you just need to remove the aft locating pins. As well you can run the older freedom panels ( just make sure they are a matched set) on any of the back halfs. You can mix the two up, freedom panels and back Halfs.
You can go the other way as well, older top on a newer body, their is no difference in the size of the tops, 11-12 have different windows in it ( larger) and more locating pins then the older ones. Then seals have changed to prevent leaks but that is all. All tops will bolt on to the jeep. I'm running an 11-12 back with 07-08 freedom panels on a 09, it all fits good and do far no leaks.
So to break it down.
Freedom panels
07-08 the same
09-12 the same with seal differences
Back halfs
07-10 the same with seal differences
11-12 the same
Why they are listed as not fitting in catalogs is that 11-12 have larger windows, and an extra set of locating pins (aft ones). As well as the freedom panels front latch moved over in 09. For factory tops they are different, for aftermarket they are using the same molds still and are not installing the rear locating pins so it's 07-12
Hope this helps
