Default 2 Door JKs tows pretty darn good

On my way down to Florida and I must say the two door handles the trailer well. Been cruising at 65 most of the time.

How did you manage to rent a Uhaul? They don't allow jeep drivers to rent. How was the mpg?

Well I am still in route, but doing 55-65 I can get 16mpgs, but once you get to 70 I'm down to 14mpg.

If you have a hard top you can rent a trailer or if you picked up the trailer with a Durango .

It is a hard top vs soft top thing, not a jeep thing. My guess would be liability - some idiot overloading the trailer, losing control, flipping, etc

Towing vehicle requirements

* Must be equipped with a hard top if it is an SUV or Jeep. U-Haul does not allow any type of sport-utility vehicle not equipped with a hard top to tow U-Haul equipment.

They told me I couldn't use the the softtop because it would not protect me in a roll over like a hard top would. Manager was cool though as he knew what I was doing when I had a Durango all the sudden.

I rented a uhaul in Oakland. They said the same thing--with the hard top on I was restricted only by weight.

I just rented a 5X8 uhaul trailer with my 2 door JK soft top with no problems. It performed very well while towing a pretty good load in it.
