Woot! My Jeep started actively dripping coolant. I've never been so happy to have an obvious leak.

New water pump installed, problem solved!

When you guys replace the water pump, do you guys also use RTV or just the gasket?

I used the gasket and Permatex The Right Stuff.

Same thing happened to me at 40k. No problems with the pump since then.

I did develop a pin size hole in the radiator at around 60k, which was easily solved with those pellets you put in the radiator when the engine is cold.

So what does it mean when your top radiator hose gets flat after your engine gets cold

Thanks for the reply. Do you put it on both the pump and engine with the gasket in-between, or just on one side? Any reason for using 'Permatex The Right Stuff' versus regular RTV?

Reason I ask is because I've read a post of only putting it on the engine but not the pump. Just trying to get clarification.

TIA
