This wrangler had the code for the EGR Valve and check engine light is on. Changed the valve cleared the code but light is still on. What else can be wrong or does the vehicle need to be drive 80 to 100 miles to clear all ?

I've had a bad valve out of the box. The other thing is to ensure that the new valve came with new gaskets to freshen up those connections. Did you pull that tube off and clean it up as well? I'm going off memory as it's been a short while since I've done the job.

Last time I had a code cleared my mechanic said I ha to "cycle it" twice for the computer to learn. Meaning I drove on the highway for about10 miles pulled off, shut it off for about 10minutes and fired it back up. Drove the 10 miles back home and it hadn't come back on.
Not sure if this will work for you as well.
