Default 2007 JK Death Wobble

I have been experiencing the Death Wobble once or so a week for the last 4 weeks at about 30 MPH.

I brought it into my Jeep for service yesterday and they said my stabilizer bar is broken and they are ordering me a new one.

Based upon everything i have read about the Death Wobble, isn't a broken stabilizer most likely an effect of another problem, such as an issue with tire rods or ball joints, pistons or shocks issues, or the steering box?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

we had the "death wobble" when we updraged to 35 inch tires... we got beefier stabilizers and it went away.

Most of the time that does help, but a good alignment helps a bunch also.

i'm sorry but, could you be more specific as to what a "stabilizer bar" is? did you mean to say "steering stabilizer"? if so and if everything is on tight and everything set correctly, you shouldn't need a steering stabilizer at all. that being said, if you are still stock, i would double check your track bar mounting bolts to make sure they are tightend to 125-130 ft lbs of torque and i would check your ball joints for wear.

are you lifted or stock? I'd ask them to make sure everything is tightened up.

You need to go look at woods post in the write up section. The track bar bracket bolt holes on the frame and axle are rounding out. Took mine apart last night and holy crap! Just on the axle side I have upwards of a 16th of play. No wonder I have been fighting wobble for the last few months. That is a lot of moving around. The longer this goes on the worse the bolt holes get. I am going to need to find someone to do some welding for me so I can get this under control.

Have you checked that the tires are balanced? I would start there as it is the last thing you changed.

Default In the same boat as you

im all stock to but about 25 mph in a slight turn if i hit a bump the wobble of death kicks in, only way for me to get her back in control is to break quickly and reduce speed to around 10 to 15 mph
