take the top and doors off and go down the road with a big sh!t eating grin on your face as all the other motorists watch you in envy....in other words don't worry, be happy....read this site too much sometimes and suddenly you think everything that could go wrong is going wrong with your jeep. kinda makes you paranoid. as far as the gas goes, put whatever you want in it. 21,000 miles on mine now putting the cheapest gas i can find in it and no problems. unless you drive a high performance sports car you don't really need to worry about the gas.

i haven't had any problems with this yet, and i too use the cheap gas, most of the time it's either Marathon, BP, or Shell and it runs fine, how much does the "Heat" cost? sounds like everyone should use that like once a year to be safe

I had the same problem with my '06 Frontier, so its not exclusive to Jeeps. Rough idling was very common question on the Frontier board. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.

Try running it in PARK for a bit in your drive way and see if you can "pinpont" the source. Does your problem go away when your engine fan turns off? if so could be the fan.

Default AC

i saw you live in Florida. Did you have your AC on?

I had rough idle in more than one vehicle I have owned. You slow down quick and stop at a light and the compressor kicks on and rough idle starts. Sometime it can be fixed by adjusting your idle a little bit.

Cheap as in Octane rating of 87 CORRECT... 89 or 93 Octane is a waste of $.

Cheapest as in quality NO, the cheaper "no name gas" has more ethanol in it and verry little if any detergents. The best gas you can buy is Texaco or Chevron which both have Techron in them next would be Shell then BP.

Citgo gas is OK but Chavez ain't getting my $, but he can lick the dog Shit off the bottom of my shoe.

My XJ did that when I first bought it with like 20k on it. Did it randomly every now and again, no rhyme or reason to it either. Have 106k now with no issues, so I am guessing its not a real problem. I noticed when I use a fuel injector cleaner every couple thousand miles it never did it. Soooo from about 30k-100k not a problem. Got lazy in the last couple thousand miles and noticed its started doing it again. Back on the injector cleaner every oil change and its gone once again.
