Default 2011 airvents in 2008???

Just got my first look at a 2011 interior and i will say it's a lot nicer in person than the photos make it out to be, I wasn't a fan originally.

So, the air vents on the dash of the 2011s are stamped with JEEP and I think they look bad ass, but does any one know of they will fit the earlier models, pop out and pop in??

pop one of the air vents out of your 2008... take a 2011 on a test drive and see if your 2008 vent fits the 2011 dash.. if it does, chances are they will work the other way around..

my guess is that the neck on the vents of the 2011's may be longer esp for the center vents than the previous years....

Spoke to the part manager at the dealership, he's going to order some and well test them on either my rig or another guys rig.

I'll have to post up findings unless someone has already done this.

Default Not a direct swap...

They are different to the point where you will be cutting plastic on both your dash and the new vents to get them to fit right. Plus I think that they are all deep (3-4 inches), where the 07-10s are 2 long (center) and 2 short (outboard). Anyway, I think I am still gonna try to do the swap cause they're gonna look good in my silver Jeep.

edit: when I said 'cutting plastic' I didn't mean anything you would see. The diameters are the same but the retention design is different, oppisite rotation direction if I remember correctly.

yeah, I stopped by the dealership the other afternoon and was looking around. I was wondering the same thing. I really like the new interior and some of the other small discreet details that Jeep has put on the 2011's

I liked the vent rings since I first saw them... When I peeked into a 2011, I tried to do the air vent twist to see if they'll remove but they wouldn't budge. Maybe they still twist out, but I didn't wanna bust it.

Instead of swapping the whole assembly did you try just the ring? It is only held on by 4 small tabs. If the diameter is the same they might snap right on without modding the actual venting or retainer.

I was thinking the same thing...I'm gonna have to wait until our dealership can get an extra airvent in to play with.
