2012 build date 8/11 - 3/12 with over 10,000 no tick problem post here
2012. February 2012 build. 8300 miles. Everything is great so far. About 1000 miles of those 8300 were towing at or above the 3500 pound capacity. I changed oil with dyno at 5k. Will switch to synthetic at 10k. I also switched front and rear diffs to synthetic around 3k.
4/12 Build date. 1,600 miles no tick except the 2 second start up oil pressure noise that is normal. In the end we will probably find out that a certain build date of cylinder heads were affected and it may vary greatly for the vehicle build date. Our Grand Cherokee has 31,000 miles and no tick other than the same start up. It is not a design flaw that is going to show up on all 3.6's so don't lose sleep, you have a warranty so enjoy your Jeep. This engine rocks in these Wrangler's !!!
Also don't get paranoid like a lot of people already are. Looking at "tick" video's on youtube and 50% of the people posting on there with the "dreaded 3.6 tick" have nothing more than normal valve train / injector noise. Find the few video's of the actual tick and you will know.
