Default 2012 Engine Temps

Just a question on normal engine temps for the 2012. I had a 2008 with an Aeroforce gauge installed. I would see 210-214 degrees at the most. I moved the gauge to the 2012 when I got it last week. I was out this weekend on some gravel roads and up and down hills in 2nd and 3rd and saw up to 224-226 max before it went down (fan apparently came on). Is this 224ish temp normal for the 3.6?

Pretty high readings, but it may be the Aeroforce is not accurately reading the totally different engine computer.

I would be careful fooling with any settings that can talk to the computer (ESP disable, etc) unless your sure the firmware in the guage is 2012 compatable.

The only thing I use the gauge for is reading parameters. Haven't used it for anything else.

Does anyone have any other data on the engine temps for a 2012?

I have no data for the temps; however, I assume that you are using a 'T' fitting so that the factory sensor is still connected while this aftermarket temp guage is hooked up or are have a secondary water port to connect the aftermarket unit to?

Assuming that's what you are doing, then what does the factory gauge show at the same time? Is it within the acceptable readings or does it peg over into the hot zone?

Reason I ask is because when I did that to my hot rod Mustangs and the temp climbed, but stayed within the normal zone, the SVO engineers at Ford said I had nothing to worry about.

But I'm curious, what does your factory unit register when your other unit says 224-226?

The Aeroforce gauge hooks up directly to the computer port under the dash, and reads what the sensors send the computer.

gotcha!

I'd question the reliablity of that reading then (another electrical, not mechanical) and still want to know 'what does the factory dash gauge' show? I've run across so many inaccurate aftermarket gauges, it happens all the time.

The stock gauge was right in the middle. It seemed just a tick higher during the high temps but right in the middle. When I had the gauge on the 2008 it seemed to be right on. When the temps hit 212 the fan kicked on and temps started dropping.

that is kinda high, if the gauge is reading in the middle id assume its ok, id check onlline tho just to be safe on what the exact running temp of the 3.6 would be

Do you know where online I could look for the average temps that can be expected with the 3.6?

I would say your best bet is to wait for some more people with AeroForce gauges to chime in with their readings.

Also, ask the dealer service or parts department what the OEM 3.6L thermostat degree value is.
