Default 2012 Oul Change- Amazed

Just did my first oil change on my 2012 JKU Rubi, and I put in Mobil 1. I was a bit concerned about the clicking others have talked about, cause I was starting to hear it too. I've got 3977 miles on the beast. Well I have to say the oil change has made this thing really pretty quiet again! The change is night and day!

I am very interested in hearing your comments OP because I too am in the same ticking noise boat. I might try changing my oil as well and see if that helps....

I'm telling ya, for me it is night and day the difference. My JK doesn't sound sick anymore, and is almost silent at idle. The stock oil was really dark and almost a tiny bit gritty. I am looking forward to the next oil change and seeing the difference in the used oil.

Okay - sorry but had to comment on the results on my 2010. Changed the oil - at 32k and used 5-30 this time. Much quieter and seems a little smoother. Have dome some shifting at 3,000 RPM compared to my normal 2 - 2500 and it is smooth and quiet.

On a second small note - beware of the lift kit issues when changing oil. Warm/hot oil is thin and really is a tough target with the pan based on the height of vehicle - where will the oil hit on the floor??

Thanks - Mandor6863

I use a five gallon bucket cut down to slide just under the drain plug. Just try not to drop the plug when it comes out! Hot oil up to your wrist is not as pleasant as it sounds...

I would not recommend waiting 4,000 miles for a first oil change....
